Let’s start with your story, we would like to know how your journey has been so far and hear how you got started.
As a child, I was always drawn to colors, shapes, and storytelling. I would spend hours doodling and creating imaginary worlds, letting my imagination run wild. This early creativity laid the foundation for my artistic journey, which officially began when I started painting and drawing more seriously in my teenage years.
My journey as an artist has been one of exploration and growth. I have always been fascinated by the power of art to convey emotions, tell stories, and connect people across cultures and time. This fascination has led me to experiment with different styles and techniques, from realism to abstract expressionism, always seeking new ways to express myself visually.
Over the years, my art has evolved alongside my personal experiences and interests. I draw inspiration from my Colombian heritage, incorporating elements of folklore, mythology, and nature into my work. I am also deeply influenced by my experiences as a dancer and musician, which have taught me the importance of rhythm, movement, and expression in art.
Today, my art is a reflection of who I am as an artist and as a person. It is a celebration of creativity, imagination, and the beauty of the world around us. I am constantly inspired by the world and the people in it, and I hope that my art can inspire others in turn.
What is something you had to put off because of the pandemic that you have recently done or is on your list to do soon?
One thing I had to put off because of the pandemic was traveling. Exploring new places and experiencing different cultures has always been a source of inspiration for me as an artist. Recently, I have been able to start traveling again, and it has been incredibly fulfilling. I have been able to immerse myself in new environments, meet new people, and gather new ideas for my art. Traveling has always been a vital part of my creative process, and I am grateful to be able to resume this aspect of my life.
What does your art future hold for you?
For me, the future of my art is filled with endless possibilities and exciting opportunities. I envision continuing to create vibrant and thought-provoking pieces that push the boundaries of creativity and storytelling. I hope to further explore themes of cultural identity, human emotions, and the beauty of the natural world through my art.
I also see myself collaborating with other artists, musicians, and creatives from different disciplines to create immersive and multidimensional experiences. Whether it’s through gallery exhibitions, public installations, or digital projects, I want to continue sharing my art with the world and inspiring others to see the beauty and wonder that surrounds us.
Overall, my art future is one of growth, exploration, and innovation. I am excited to see where this journey takes me and to continue evolving as an artist.
Artists are aways bombarded by how great it is to pursue their passion etc., but we know from a lot of people that it is not always that easy. Overall, would you say things have gotten better for you as an artist in South Florida?
As an artist in South Florida, I can say that pursuing my passion has been both rewarding and challenging. While there is a vibrant arts community here and a growing appreciation for art, there are also unique challenges that artists face, gaining recognition in a competitive market is one of them, and navigating the business side of art.
However, I have also seen positive changes and opportunities arise for artists in South Florida. There is a growing interest in supporting local artists and a greater emphasis on art education and cultural enrichment. Events like Art Basel Miami Beach have helped to put South Florida on the map as a hub for contemporary art, attracting artists and collectors from around the world.
Overall, I believe that things have gotten better for artists in South Florida, but there is still work to be done to ensure that artists are valued, supported, and able to thrive in this dynamic and diverse region.
